Good morning. This is Your Insurance Connection. I'm your host, Donald Marquez. On Your Insurance Connection, we talk about saving money on auto insurance, homeowners insurance, yes, and we talk about life insurance. Welcome to the show. Thank Good morning, everyone. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection broadcasting right here at KU and V 91.5 jazz and more. Every Sunday morning from 8am to 830 Welcome, welcome to my show. I'm a licensed insurance professional, offering you life insurance, homeowners, auto insurance, boat, and motorcycle insurance. I am licensed for life insurance in Nevada, California, Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan. If you're in this program for the very first time, welcome to my show. I'm also licensed in 48 states for home and auto insurance, with the exception of California and New York. Licensed insurance agent for the last 30 years, right here in my hometown, Las Vegas, Nevada. And if you like to check on my credentials, you can always contact the Division of Insurance and say, 'Hey, I just want to check on Don Marquez, and I have proudly say, 'I have no complaints in 30 years. Yeah, I'm happy to say that no complaints in 30 years. I'm an old-fashioned insurance agent. I really like, love my customers, like to talk to them about customer service, and you know, when the difference with me is, you know, it says I know you're looking for always the price, it's always about price, but also it's about coverages too, as well, to make sure you are properly covered, and also make sure you understand your coverages. Knowing your coverage is very important when you're purchasing any type of insurance product. Just don't say, I have full coverage on my car, not knowing what these coverages are, or on your life insurance, say you know I'm covered, and not knowing how much you're covered for, or when the policy expires, or how much is your cash value. If, in fact, you have a cash value policy, know if you've taken out a loan on your policy, what to expect. Will it, you know, drain your cash value, would it reduce the face amount of the policy if the money is not paid back? These are questions I get all the time when people listen to this program at 91.5 jazz and more, and they contact me, and I want to thank the listeners that listen to this program and have contacted me about their insurance concerns. I'm located on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the US Bank Center, located on the eighth floor. My business hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm My contact phone number is 702236262470223 4702236 2624 My email address is Donald dot Marquez M A R Q U E z@outlook.com Again, donald.marquez@outlook.com I always like the phone call, that's a better way to get in touch with me. And again, if you don't want to combine this 105 heat, I write a lot of business over the telephone 702-236-2624 Let's get right into it today. You know, final expense is always on my mind, you know, the cost of funeral service is always going up every six months. They take a rate increase. The funeral homes take a rate increase every six months. I've been to four funerals with, and it's not even 12 months, four services, and it's been less than 12 months. The older you get, the more services you go to. It's just a way of life, but some families are prepared to pay for the final expenses. Some families are not. You know, we have these voices in our head to tell us to take care of business and stop procrastinating. And then we have this other voice that tells us, oh, you know, we'll do it tomorrow, we'll do it next week, we'll do it next month, we'll do it whenever we do it. We'll get to it. Why do people constantly listen to that voice that deters you from what you need to do? You know, listening to that voice. Hey, I'm gonna go for a walk today, and that voice says not today, because something is coming on television, or you hear that voice say, you know what. We gonna start a diet tomorrow, not today, or you know, if you're looking for a new career, you know, we're not gonna look right now, we'll look next week.
Donald Marquez 5:09
See, this is a voice of it's not a voice that's helping you progress in life, it holds you back when you listen to that voice that tells you not to do something and delay it the next day, you're delaying progress, but when you listen to the voice that takes you to the next level to get things done and get it over with, you know, many people have contacted me over the many years as an insurance professional, and they tell me, 'Hey, Don Marquez, I should have called you a while back, this' been on my mind to call you, I've been meaning to call you, and I finally called you, and I'm so glad you picked up the phone, and I always picked up the phone. This is my life blood phone. I will pick up the phone and answer the phone and answer your concerns. You know, many people's concerns is how much life insurance can I purchase. You know, a lot of that is about your budget. Everyone has a target price, rates and benefits are locked in for the life of the policy. Once you qualify, once you qualify, I can make this very simple, very easy for a life insurance product. I have a lot of life insurance products where you don't have to take a physical, and the products are term insurance up to $450,000 no physical between age of 40 and 80, no physical term insurance up to $450,000 no physical. I have universal life insurance up to $450,000 no physical. I have a whole life policy up to $50,000 in coverage, no physical. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection, 702-236-2624 702-236-2624 And let's say we're on the phone, you know how much your name, your middle initial, your last name, your address, you know what city you live in, because again, I'm licensed for life insurance in Nevada, California, Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan. Your date of birth, I do need your social security number information. You're male or female. Now, when it comes to male and female, because I've been asked this question, if you're transgender, I need to know whether you're male or female, that's, you know, insurance company, we look at, if you're a man, you're a man, if you're a woman, you're a woman, just as simple as that. We need to know who your primary beneficiary is going to be, and their address. Now, your contingent beneficiary is a person in place, just in case your primary beneficiary passes before you do, the contingent beneficiary or contingent beneficiaries move up in a beneficiary or the beneficiary's position, for that way you don't have to, you know, just reassign a new contingent beneficiary. Now, I've seen people fill out this information, the beneficiary information incorrectly. They put 50% primary beneficiary and 50% contingent beneficiary. This is a wrong way to fill out this information, and usually you fill out this information without an insurance agent. The insurance companies have insurance agents for one valuable reason, to take you through the process step by step to make sure you fully understand the product you're purchasing. Of course, we want to know what the relationship is between the beneficiaries and the insured individual. If you have a loved one that needs to go into a nursing home, right, and they have a life insurance policy, we need to change the owner, we need to change the owner of that policy. You need to be reassigned the owner of your life insurance policy if you know, or you have a loved one that's getting ready to go into a nursing home, because that life insurance policy could be considered an asset. Now, if you have power of attorney over your loved one, you can answer all the health questions, you can sign for your loved one, you know, so that that met that takes a lot of worry out, because a lot of the times people contact me and say, well, you know, I have a loved one, they have Alzheimer's dementia, they cannot answer the health questions, however, with power of attorney or guardianship, you can answer the health questions in their behalf and sign the policy. Now, you can be the owner, the beneficiary, and the payer of the life insurance policy. Again, you can be the owner, and that person will be the insured. You'll be the payer and the owner.
Donald Marquez 9:38
Now, that with the owner position, you can contact the life insurance company directly yourself without permission from the insured individual and make any type of changes necessary on the life insurance policy, any changes necessary, they may be an address change or they may be a checking account change, now your checking account you the. The payments are made directly from your checking account. The payment method is you can take a due date between the first and the 28th of each month and have your due date. Now, a lot of people like the 15th of each month or the first of the month, and that's when your revolving payments will come out of your account for the life insurance policy. Again, the payment method is a monthly draft, or if you want to pay it in full, you could pay it in full for the full year. I really don't advise that, you know why. Lock your money up for the full year, there's no different in the fee. There's no different in the fee. Why give a life insurance company a whole year? Well, you know, sometimes people look, I don't want those payments coming out of my account each month. I get it now. If you would like to add a child rider, you can add a child rider, as long as the child is 17 years or younger. I have Gerber Life Insurance Company. I do have the Grow Up Plan, and I can write up to $50,000 with Gerber on the Grow Up Plan on your infant child, up to $50,000 Also, have the college plan through Gerber life insurance. You can pick up $250,000 in coverage. It's a 20 year plan, and it tells you how much it'll, you know, depending on your budget, it'll tell you how much you can pay into the policy every month, and in 18 to 20 years how much you have for the college plan through Gerber life insurance? Now it pays up to 28% interest on the Gerber life insurance college plan, up to 28% interest on the Gerber plan for college. So, if you want to set a money aside, and your, you know, your child, you want to go to UNLV one day, right? Right here at UNLV, and you can start paying a college now. While the children are very young, through the college grew up paying through Gerber Life Insurance Company. I am licensed through Gerber Life Insurance Company to help you guide you through the process, step by step. I am a licensed insurance broker. I'm your insurance connection at LLC. I do not charge a broker fee to come see me. It's very simple, very easy. I ask you simple health questions, and they're yes or no answers. They're yes or no answers. It's not that difficult. Do you have HIV? Yes or no. Are you a smoker? Yes or no. Simple questions like that, complications of diabetes, including amputation, diabetic coma, you know, alcohol or drug abuse. Yes or no. Now you may have family members out there with alcohol or drug abuse problem, because listening to this program right now, you could be the responsible person, not only for a person that's out there with drug, drugs, and alcohol abuse problem, underlying health conditions, you know, but you can also be responsible for your spouse, for your, for your children, if they have a problem, or if they don't have a problem, you could still be the responsible person that's listening to this program right now, it, you know, when that day, and people say this to me, if something happens, you know, I want to make sure I have enough life insurance to take care of this. If something happens, well, it's going to happen sooner or later. Now, we never know when it may happen, the unexpected. If I knew, if we all knew when it was going to happen for each and every one of us, regardless who we are, then that day is going to come for each and every one of us. It's just a matter of time. If we knew the time, you know, people buy a lot more life insurance, you know. You know, I got like 15 more years to live. I need to call Don Marquez at 702-236-2624 You know, having a life insurance policy, and all my clients tell me this after getting the policy.
Donald Marquez 13:44
They said, "You know what, I should have done this a while back. The rates are based on your current age, your current health, the current medications you take, even though you don't have to take a physical. Well, we do base the rates on your medications, your height, your weight, you know, the benefits paid within 24 hours. Now, if you, if you need that money sooner, you know, if you really need the money soon, when you, when you, let's say, if you have less than 12 months to live, you have less than 12 months to live, you can take an advance on your life insurance policy, and some companies, not all companies, but some companies will give you anywhere from 50 up to 80% while you're still living, if you only have 12 months or less to live, of course, they're going to verify it through your life insurance company, is going to verify through your doctor to make sure you know they can advance you this money, and they receive a letter from your doctor saying, okay, yes, you have less than 12 months to live, so you can take care of all your final expenses, you know. Benefits of having a life insurance policy is, you know, you may have a job that gives you coverages, that's fine if it's free, but if you're paying for it, you do have other options. You do have other options to get a life insurance policy, whether you're still working for this company or not. A lot of people getting laid. Know things will slow down quite a bit, you know. Your life insurance policy will follow you, regardless of what state or what country you live in, wherever you live. Your life insurance policy will follow you. Again, rates, once you qualify for the life insurance policy, rates and benefits are locked in for the life of the policy. Why that? Why that information is important, because a lot of you have life insurance policies, the premium goes up every five years, you know, you or as you age could go up every year, it could adjust on you every year, because you need a review, you need it, like, you know, I need to review your life insurance policy, and how do you get a review, you just contact me at 702-236-2624 I'll pencil you in an appointment. My location is on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the US Bank Center, eighth floor. I work by my business hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm 702 022362624 You come in with your life insurance policy, and if you don't have a policy, don't let that long let that stop you, because what I can do, with your permission, is contact your life insurance company. Long as you know you have a policy number, as long as you know the name of the company, I can call your company and speak on your behalf, and you know, get all the information that I need, just to see where you are, because you could be experiencing your life insurance policy going up on you every year on this anniversary, or on your birth date, because sooner or later you're not gonna be able to afford that policy. No, another year go by, you know, I got to keep my policy. I've had it for a long time, but it keeps going up. What can I do? There's the solutions to your problem with your policy going up every single year. Again, my name is Don Marquez. I'm a licensed insurance agent. And if this is your first time hearing my show, welcome to the show. Our broadcast right here at K U N V 91.5 jazz or more every Sunday morning from 8am to 830 When you receive information in the mail for accidental only life insurance, disregard that it's accidental only. It does not pay for natural causes. When it says accidental only, there's only time the policy will pay out for accidental, and they target my senior citizens. I'm a senior citizen. They target us. I receive mail information in the mail. Hey, fill us out, it's real easy. No, no health examination. You can get a million dollars worth of life insurance for pennies on $1 because it's accidental only, or it's travel accidental insurance. That's not not wise, you know.
Donald Marquez 17:43
Filing expenses, you know, people wanted something that's simple, real easy, real quick, you know. Soon, you know, every everyone has a filing expense, you can't get around it. And you know, life insurance is like this: if you save money, that's great, but life insurance policy is an instant savings, if you write, if I write you a $50,000 whole life insurance policy, your estate just went up $50,000 Yeah, you just put $50,000 in your savings account, and you know, and it takes time to save that type of money. Even if you save $1,000 a month, it's going to take you at least 60 months to save, you know, $50,000 It takes a while, but with a life insurance policy, you don't have to pay $1,000 a month for a life insurance policy, you know. You say, 'You know what, I got a policy going. I wrote that fee. He wrote that $50,000 whole life policy, and the benefit is this: you have $50,000 automatically that money is there for you. It's set aside by the insurance company. Anytime you take out a life insurance policy, the life insurance companies have put that money in escrow for you. Now, to put the money in escrow, so that money sets, and that money's needed. Now, during that course of time, if you paid on your policy on time, you build a cash value with a whole life policy or universal life insurance policy. The term does not have a cash value asset. It is not a cash value asset with a term life insurance policy. Just keep that in mind. Now, term is the lowest cost insurance you can purchase, however, whole life, universal life, either one of those are a cash value asset policy that you need money. Hey, your transmission went out on your car. I need a couple $1,000 You can go to your life insurance policy now. It does take time to build it up, you know. It's not like, okay, I take out a policy today and next week I want to borrow money against it, it doesn't work that way. It does take a while, and sometimes you know people come to me, and they want a review, and wow, they realize they have a lot of money saved up in their cash value. That I've never taken out a loan, I've never taken out a loan. I've had a lady came in, she had over $20,000 and. Cash value in her life insurance policy. She had no idea. She said, "Well, you know, I get these statements every year. I really don't know what they mean. You know, when you buy a life insurance policy without an insurance agent, you're taking a lot of risk. You know, I'm a licensed agent. I do not charge a fee to come see me. I make it real simple, real easy. We can do a lot of business over the phone. I write policies over the phone. People call me from California, they call me from Texas, they call me from Louisiana, they call me from Michigan, and I write their life insurance over the phone, or their home and auto insurance. I'm also licensed for home and auto insurance. 702-236-2624 70223 zero 223-626-2041 of the most important questions I get asked, do my policy start right away when it comes to life insurance? Do my policy starts right away? That's a yes or no answer. Now, yes, because I write insurance policies, you're covered day one, but if you do have underlying health conditions, let's say you have a history of cancer, right, you know that policy is going to take it's called, it's called a graded policy that's going to take two years. Now, if your cancer was over, let's say seven years ago, and you're in remission, then we may have options where you may start right away, so every situation is different, but you know, I've been asked a question, do my policy start right away? If you have, if you're stage three, stage two cancer right now, and you take out a, you know, policy out, you know, up to 25,000 for stage one, stage two cancer, right? Or even stage four. I wrote a gentleman last week, he has stage four cancer, and he's been living for quite some time, but he has stage four cancer. He's managing his stage four.
Donald Marquez 21:51
I wrote him, I wrote him 25,000 I wrote him $25,000 policy, and he was happy. Now he understands there's a two year graded period. Now, two years go by really quick, all right. Two years, just imagine 10 years ago, right? It's gone like a blink of an eye. 10 years is like nothing, you know. 10 years go by so quick. No, two years, the life insurance companies are not denying you coverage, they're just giving you a graded period to say, okay, we're not going to deny you, but we'll give you these two years to stay, you know, stay alive for these two years, because you know the insurance company will protect themselves, you know, even for suicide after two years. Some companies will cover that loss after two years, you know. Terminal illness, if you have terminal illness, there are policies. Life insurance policy will pay you while you're terminally ill, while you're still living. So, a life insurance policy is not only something you pay into month after month, it also is a living benefit. Again, as I said earlier, it pays you a cash value asset when you take out a whole life policy and a universal life insurance policy, but I'm gonna tell you right now, the whole life policy builds up a cash value a lot faster, up to $50,000 in coverage. Are you getting anywhere from almost four and a half percent interest on the cash value of your life insurance policy? And see how much money you make on your savings account, putting money in there every month, it's a little of nothing. The bank uses your money, and they make money off of your money, and they don't share the profits with you. It's so unfair. If they're getting anywhere from 12 to 15% and they probably do, or probably even more than that, they don't share the profits with the customer that's putting money in the bank, that they use our money to make them more money, and they don't share the profits. It should be illegal what they're doing, but with a life insurance policy, not only you get a better interest rate, up to four and a half percent interest on the money you put into it every month, because it builds a cash value asset, you know it's a win win for you, and you have the death benefit available for your beneficiary and beneficiaries.
