Good morning. This is Sunday morning at KU NV, 91.5 jazz or more. My name is Don Marquez. I'm a licensed insurance agent. Welcome to the show I broadcast right here at KU NV, from 8am to 830 I'm a licensed insurance agent, delivering you value more information on insurance, educating you on insurance products and services as an insurance customer, this is valuable information for you to understand a little bit more about your insurance, and you just think you know, just buying insurance, paying for insurance, for many, many years. It is so many moving parts on the back end. As an insurance agent, being in the business for 30 years, I've seen so many things, some misunderstanding, people with coverages, not knowing what they have when something happens, what to do. It's just one after another, after another. And you know you compare, and you say to yourself, you know, I've been paying on insurance for a very long time. And you may think you know, but you really may not know. You know what is available to you. What happens when, when a loved one passes and your name is not on the deed of your house? What happens when you're married? You're married to someone and for a very long time, and you own a home together, and you don't have a will, you don't have a trust. What happens in the state of Nevada, when, when you, when you your name is not on the deed or the mortgage, I'll go home now, your home could be on the mortgage, but not on the deed of the house. And you know, you may have challenges with going into probate. These are things that I help my customers with to better understand it's time for all of us to get our paperwork in order. It truly is now. I'm not a licensed attorney or or a paralegal, but just working with people over the many years, 30 years in this industry, just to see what they go through when they lose a loved one. It's it's a lot, it's a lot more than you can even imagine. You know not having a life insurance policy, or, you know, not willing to buy a life insurance policy because, or you was just saying to yourself, one of these days, I'm gonna contact Don Marquez. I hear him on KU NV all the time, every Sunday morning, and we eventually, I'm calling, but they keep, you know, going one year after night, this year is almost over. This year is almost over. What are you waiting on? You know? I mean, it's time. It is time for all of us, because a lot of us, and you're listening to this program now, you're probably getting ready for church or getting ready to start your day, maybe getting ready to go to the casino put your football bets in. But our time is getting shorter and shorter. It seems like at this age, I went to a funeral last Friday, a good friend of mine, he passed, and he was only in his late 60s, you know, that was too young to go, you know. And I had another friend two months ago in September pass and he had just turned 70, wow, you know, I mean, it's too she was too young to go. And I see this. I see the frequency of, you know, people just not being with us anymore. And as you age, you will see more and more of it. The question is that I have when that happens, what do you do? Are you prepared for that day and when that day comes? As comes to all of us, we have a date, and when that day comes, Are you financially prepared to deal with the finances of losing a significant loved one. Does your family know where the life insurance is? Do you have a will? Do you have a trust? Do you talk about it with your family members? How you want your final expenses to be paid out? How do you want to be cremated or not being cremated? Do you want a service or not have a service? Do you want to be buried in Las Vegas, or do you want to be buried somewhere else? These are questions that's coming up all the time. When family members lose a loved one and the holidays are just around the corner, families get together for the first one is Thanksgiving, and it's just around the corner. Have a kind. Conversation with your loved ones find out who has life insurance and who's the beneficiary. You should have a family meeting. You should have a family meeting with all the family members the gap that there. I know it's a good time for everybody to get together, but let's let's a family. We need to have a conversation to see who is responsible and see who's not. And the ones that push back, let me say this, the ones that push back say, ah, you know, I don't talk about that. You know, those are the ones probably don't have anything, and you listening to this program right now, could be the responsible person, not only relatives. We're talking about, children that you have that's not responsible. Don't have any life insurance that you could be responsible for their final expenses. You know, we have husband and wife together, no life insurance, retired, lost their benefits, and think they can't afford it. Think they can't afford it, you can't afford it. Then what I do. I ask, what is your budget? I want to know, you know, I can give you numbers up and down the, you know, the scale, okay. Can, you know, I can give you a million dollars worth of coverage or less, you know. Or if you want $10 million worth of coverage, I can do that too as well. Or if you only want enough to pay for a cremation, you know, which is $5,000 in coverage, $10,000 in coverage, $15,000 in coverage. It the list just goes on and on. But what, what I want to know is what you can afford each month. You tell me your budget for life insurance, and we'll go from there. You know, I had a lady she called me just the other day, but she said, Well, you know, I'm retired. I'm on a very fixed income, and I have very limited funds, but I have two children, they're grown in their mid 40s. I need to insure. And I asked, I said, What is your budget? She said, Well, I'm in the mid 30s. I said, for each she said, No, for both of them, that's what I can afford. You know what? I found a policy for for both of them. Now, they had 35,000 they had $3,500 worth of coverage each. But she said, Well, you know what, when that day comes for them, I'm just gonna cremate them. You know that'll take care of that. No ceremony necessary. So she purchased $3,500 in coverage for both of them each, and it was affordable for and it came out to her budget actually was a little couple of dollars less than her budget. That makes it easy for me. It makes it really easy for you, if you just tell me what what your budget is, you know, because there's no guessing game to it, your body and your age and medications you take dictates the rate. Nothing that I what I have is access to a lot of insurance companies, life insurance companies that works with me and I work with them to find the right price for you with the right coverages. My name is Don Marquez. I'm a licensed insurance agent. I help many I've helped many people in my my beautiful career in the insurance business, and it has been an amazing experience being an insurance professional. I absolutely love what I do. I'm very good at what I do, by the way, I am, I listen and I know, I know when you're ready, and I know when you're not ready, but when you come to me, be prepared, because I'm, I'm ready to do business. I am, I'm, you know, it's not like, Okay, you need all these numbers, and then, you know, you know what you can't afford just coming to my office, getting a lot of different numbers quotes, and that's not resolving anything. It's not, it's not, but you should know how much you can afford. And you know, a lot of times I just ask. I said, what's your budget? What do you mean? What's your How much can you afford to pay each month? Well, I want to be on this certain dollar amount, and let's take it from there. My name is Don Marquez. My contact information is 702-236-2624, 022362624, 702-236-2624. My Location, Sahara Rancho in the US Bank, center right on the corner. something is better than nothing. Too many people are passing even now today. No, no, no, no form of payment to the to the mortuary. No, I don't know what you're gonna do, go fund me or, you know, I don't know, ask for donations. That's embarrassing. It really is. You live all your life. You work hard all your life, and you leave your legacy behind like that. Or if you have a spouse and children behind with no money, how do you expect them to make it? And guys, I got to tell you, you know, the ladies come to see me. If I could ever I receive 10 appointments. Seven out or eight of those 10 appointments are made by women, and sometimes they bring their husbands in, and sometimes no, they just want to take care of I needed to get this done. We both are retired. We have no life insurance now. We have a little bit of a savings, but I'm gonna tell you something about your savings account that's for emergency, you know, funerals today in Upper $20,000 range. Yeah, yeah, 15 to 20,000 you know, and that could wipe out most people saving because it's hard to save money today, but a life insurance policy is a savings account. It truly is. It's instant money in your account. You take out a life insurance policy, you just put that money in your savings account. So why would you want to, you know, not keep your insurance going, especially your life insurance. You know, I've talked to people over the many years. I've talked to had life insurance, and when that day came for their loved ones, oh my god, they called me and thank me. Thank you so much, Mr. Marquez, but for getting life convincing my father to purchase a life insurance policy, we just lost him, and now we need that policy to pay for these final expenses, because we have credit card bills to pay off. We have medical bills to pay. We have a funeral to pay for, and we have a car payment, you know, and not to mention, you know, just just, you know, flying in from out of town, taking time off from work, you know, maybe paying a mortgage for a few months. Yeah, that life insurance policy really does come in hand handy. Now, if you do have a substantial savings account, maybe you are self insured, but most people are not. Most people are not self insured. You know, the average debt that's left behind is around 60,000 to $70,000 in the United States, when you lose a loved one, that's a 60 to $70,000 you know, Bill that you lose to the next generation, that the next generation inherits your debt. That much money, 60 to $70,000 now you say, Well, I don't have anything. Well, maybe you do, and you don't realize what you have. If you have a car and it's owed, you know, your family members may have to sell it, or maybe they want to keep it, they have to continue to make the payments on it. So that's that's a that's an inherited build that they inherited it. And what about if you have a home or condo, a townhouse or even a house, who's gonna pay the mortgage, why are you gone? Who's gonna pay the utility bills? Who's gonna pay, you know, the upkeep, the landscaper, the association. Dudes, she just love Association. Dudes, well, you know, where did that come from? When I bought my first house, I did not have any association dues, but now I have association fees, you know, like, oh my god, you know, and some and I got to kind of knock on wood a little bit, but because I've owned condos, and I still own a condo and a house, I live in my house, but I have an investment property and my condominium association fees are higher than my home. Fees don't make sense to me. And when there's a lot more condos in a small area, then then, you know where my house is. So I never could understand why the townhouses and condo you know Association do is very double what I paid for my home. Doesn't make sense, but that's another bill. That's another bill someone has to pay for you, because this is your responsibility, and they can't sell the house right away. Let's just put that on the table. If you know what, you know, I'm gonna leave in my house, and they could do whatever they want with the house. I don't care. I'm gone, yeah, but they have to make those payments. And what if they need to go in there and take all your furniture out of your home to sell a house, right? Or take time off from work because they now they have to, they come from out of state. All that costs money. Who's gonna pay for that? And again, if you don't think you're not leaving debt, you really need to take out a sheet of paper. Write down your obligations, my house, my rent, you know, my furniture, my house, everything that you own and everything that you owe, credit card, middle card, credit card bills, medical bills, car payments, car insurance, just, you know, write down the list and just take yourself out. Okay, and now, and when I pass, how is going, how this is gonna look when I'm gone? Who is going to pay this debt when I'm gone? Now, if you're a spouse, you know both of you, both of you, need to write down your. Husband and wife, or whatever the situation may be these days, your partner, your spouse. I'm trying to be correct as much as I can. You know, write down your obligations because you don't want to leave your loved one in financial disparity. My name is Don Marquez. Let's walk through the process step by step. I can find a policy, a life insurance policy, that will fit in your budget. Final expenses, we will all have that final expense obligation. Living expenses are daily. Every time you walk out the house, you know you're spending money, you go to the grocery store, you're gonna spend money, you go to the fast food restaurant and stay out of the fast food restaurant that food is so bad. I know every now and then, you know, every now and then I want a coke and a burger too, you know, I do, but I compromise. So I get the coke. I don't get the Coke, I get the burger, no cheese, grilled onions and a bottle of water, okay, all right. And sometimes the fries, sometimes not the fries, you know, I'm compromising slightly, but not getting the coke with it. Or if I do get the Coke, I get the sugar free Coke Zero Coke, you know, so, because it make it swallow that burger down a lot easier. But you know, this is this, people. And I'm saying this because we spend money on fast food. We spend way too much money on fast food, you know. And fast food is not like it used to be. You go through the fast food line and you're less than $10 you got a meal, but today, not today, and especially if you buy them for two people. You know that fast food bill is like, almost like $30 today to go through the fast food and that's a lot more than ever been before. But if you go into the fast food, and then you go on every day to lunch to get your get your lunch, and not taking your lunch with you at work, just imagine all the money you're spending on lunch at the fast food. Or, you know, I'm gonna go over here, or I'm gonna go get this coffee in the morning. Okay, it's not fast food, but it's fast coffee, I call it, but look how much money you spend in each month. You know, I've talked to people, but believe it or not, I've talked to people in my lifetime, and they spent upwards of $300 a month on coffee. And I have to be honest with you, when I go into these coffee shops, it has been a long time since I've been in one I had an office right next door to a coffee shop when I was a triple A insurance agent. And I did retire from triple A, right next door to our coffee to our office was a coffee shop, right? And so I go in a coffee shop just to go get a cup of coffee, just to see what the who the hula is about it because people just getting out of their car going to the coffee shop, you know, ordering coffee. I can never understood that. Understand that when you want to make your own coffee, you know why you got to get in your car drive to the coffee shop. But, you know, they got the whip, they got this, they got that, and they got the language, you know, and everybody's trying to out, I just when I when it was my turn, I didn't know the language. I just said, I just want to, you know, a medium cup of coffee, you know. And they said, and they came up with the language. They had to teach me the language, how
Donald Marquez 18:09
to order coffee, a simple cup of coffee. And what do you want in it? You want the whip. You want this. You want that. It's sugar, no shit. Wow, I'm done with this. Just, I'll just go to office, make my own ranch office coffee. What I did my office, I went to got my I bought my own coffee. So I had my own coffee, all grounding up and everything I want to go and bought me premium coffee. And everyone drank my coffee in the office, and they just loved it. And they said, Don This coffee is very good, but this is ways you compromise to save money, get a life insurance policy. This is why I'm bringing this up. You have to find ways to compromise. Don't eat out every day fast food. That's bad for you. And so many different ways. Drink more water and and make your own coffee if you're gonna, if you're gonna drink coffee in the morning every day, make your own even, even at times, when I do drink coffee at home, I grind my beans up and I make my own coffee, and I go, I go. Because, as you know, it's funny, the little things you do go a long way. It adds up. It adds up. It really does add up. When I was working and I added it up how much I was spending on going to lunch and not bringing my lunch, it added up. It added up. But now that I'm single, you know, I count every dollar that I make. I make sure that, you know, I spend my money wisely. Because I'm the only one tracking my money, I make sure I spend my money wisely on things that's important, on things that important. Yeah, every now and then I have a little fun. I'm gonna say, I'm not saying to you as a listener not to have a good time. But you know, I've become a little bit more frugal than I ever been before. And I can say that with with with no problem, with no problem, because I was never frugal, but not not today I am, because look at the prices of everything. You know, I go to grocery store and I said, Oh, I'm gonna get, I'm gonna buy this, this, this, this, I'm gonna keep my I'm gonna keep my grocery bill in check. Now, if you can walk out of grocery store and spend less than I do, you doing real good, because I go to grocery store once a week and, you know, I keep my grocery bill in check. I get what I need, and when I get what I need, I go home and I cook it. Yeah, I do, or it's already prepared. Because sometimes I do go to the deli, you know, because the deli got some really good food. Now, if you want to go, you know, some of these grocery stores are offered some pretty good deli foods, you know, just already prepared. Take it home and eat it instead of going to the fast food restaurant. Because even going to a restaurant today for a nice dinner, bottle of wine and steak dinner. You know, you two or $300 real easy, but these are ways you can compromise and get your life insurance policy. You know, life insurance is something we all gonna need one day, you know. And how much do you need for life insurance? We can figure out that together. Now, do you want to cover a mortgage, or you just want to cover your final expenses? We can figure out it together. Now, can you buy a life insurance policy on someone else? Yes, you may, and depending on the financial circumstances, because you could be responsible for their final expenses. So we'll take this step by step through the process. You know you do have to have insurable interest when you do insure a loved one, or there could be a financial interest. And now, yeah, mothers and daughter and mothers and fathers can take out insurance out on each on their children. Your mothers and fathers can take an insurance policy out on their children. Some of these children out there, they need a life insurance policy because, you know, they just could be out there in their life, have their lifestyle that's in the streets, and they're not now, not doing what they supposed to do. And you don't want to receive that call. And, you know, you find out your loved one, they, hey, we have your loved one here, and now you'd have to go through the process of, you know, they'll file expenses with your loved one at the mortuary, and that's not a good place to be. And without not being prepared, it's just not, because the people at the mortuary, they're about one thing and one thing only. They're about their you know, this, this services has to be done, and who's gonna pay for it, right? Who's gonna pay for it? It's a very expensive place to walk in. It really is, I mean, you'll be surprised. And I've and over the years, I've talked to people that own mortuaries, and they tell me what they go through with, what customers are walking the front door. You know, they come in the front door with a accidental only life insurance policy. Yeah, here's dad's policy. Here it is, right here, million dollars, but it says accidental only, or is travel, travel, accidental life insurance I don't offer that travel only accidental life insurance policy. Do not purchase those because your credit unions, your banks or even your department stores are offering you this accidental, only life insurance policy to purchase for almost a little of nothing, and they target senior citizens. They do that for a reason, because they know you don't have any life insurance, they know you need something, and this looks so fantastic. Oh, accidental only life insurance I can get a million dollars, you know? Oh, my goodness, that's nothing. That's less when a Coca Cola cost well, you know, something has to be wrong with that. Let's get you a real life insurance policy that will cover final expenses will cover, you know, passing them natural causes and a life insurance is not only about passing or losing a loved one. It's also a living benefit. You could borrow money against the life insurance policy. Yeah, you can. You can borrow money against the policy. And some people that I've heard them doing this, you know, depending on the policy. Now, I don't offer this. Please don't get it wrong, because if you call me, I'm gonna tell you I don't offer it. But I've saw online where people actually buy, companies actually buy your life insurance policy from you. You know, I don't offer that. I don't know anything about it. I just saw it online. We will buy your life insurance policy. Now, I'm quite sure it's some restrictions there. And giving up your life insurance policy. Why would you do that? Because what they're going to do, they're going to continue making the payments, and they're going to make themselves a beneficiary, and they they and they don't mind writing you out, because they know in the long run, they're gonna add, they're gonna do the numbers. And if you have a large enough life insurance policy, and it makes sense to them, they'll absolutely give you, you know, lesser on the face amount, and cash you out and continue to make the payments, because they know. They know for a fact, they're gonna win, and you're gonna you know, and you're gonna get shortened your family members will you know? Don't reap the benefit. They won't reap the benefit of your policy. But I've seen people sell their policy too as well. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection. My contact phone number is 702-236-2624, 702-236-2624, I work by appointment. My business hours are Monday through Friday, from 10am to 5pm located on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the US, beautiful bank building. I'm on the eighth floor. I work by appointment now some Saturdays. You know that there's a possibility I'll take a phone call, oh, on the phone only because now the office is closed on on Saturdays, on Sundays. I never work on Sundays because sometimes I'm home, relaxing, watching sports. I love my football on Sunday and but Saturdays I will work via phone. 702-236-2624 702-236-2624 I guarantee you issue life insurance policy. That's a policy. When you get a guaranteed issue life insurance policy, and these are people that go online and buy these guaranteed issue life insurance policy without an agent like myself, and they find out it may be a two, maybe even a three year wait period before the full face of the amount of policy is available. Yes, and a lot of policies are offered, the life insurance policies I offer that you know, they could be day one coverage. Now I have to leave a little wiggle room in there could be depending on your health situation, if you have cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, if you if you're on dialysis, or if you have a loved one, Alzheimer's, dementia, you know, kidney, liver disease, heart disease, I can get them a life insurance policy. COPD, I can get them a life insurance policy. Again, diabetes, lupus, multiple sclerosis, history of cancer, heart disease. Now, if you have less than 12 months to live, I really can't do nothing, you know, I can't help you if you have less than 12 months to live, because I've had people call me, hey, my dad only have four months to live. Can I get him $100,000 life insurance policy? No, you know, no, I can't do that. Why would you I mean, think about it. You're gonna make less than three payments or four payments, and the life insurance company is gonna spend $100,000 No, they're not that. It doesn't work that way. This is why it's never a good idea to wait. And I've talked to many of you over in my many years. Well, you know, we just want to wait for right now, and they're smoking cigarettes, and I have, I have policies that I'm happy to say, if you are current cigarette smoker, I can get you a whole life insurance policy up to $40,000
Donald Marquez 27:50
