Good morning. Good morning, Las Vegas. My name is Don Marquez, this is your insurance connection. One Welcome to another edition of your insurance connection loved. Sit down and relax and listen to the valuable information that I'm gonna give you today. And before we get started, I want to give a special shout out to one of my clients that came in this week. And he came in took care his business His name is Richard. And thank you so much Richard, I told him I was gonna give them a shout out. So Richard came in with multiple life insurance policies here at the show. And he heard me talking about life insurance reviews. And he said, Hey, I have four policies here. Just tell me what's going on with them. And I reviewed them one of them, you know, when I'm watching too good, he had an accidental on one of them. So when we told him we don't need that one. Couple of them they was going to expire at a certain age. And, you know, he made his choices. And but one of them he had he not told him to keep but the one that was going to expire at a at a 70 order. The rate was going to adjust at a 70 You had a couple of rows. So I'd say you know, we have some options here. Let me let me view your cash value. I reviewed the cash value in the policy and was was fortunate we got quite lump sum of money. When we wrote him a brand new policy, he cashed that policy out he surrendered the policy. But put a little over $1,000 in his pocket. He didn't know he had $1,000 worth of value in his policy, but they 70 that policy rate was going to change the face amount was going to stay the same however, the premiums were going to go up and that is going to happen to you too, as well. My contact phone number is 702-236-2624 702-236-2624 My name is Donald Marquez, I'm a licensed insurance broker, I sell Auto Home Life Insurance, renter's boat and motorcycle insurance. Having a review put over $8,000 in riches pocket. I mean, all of us could use an additional $8,000. Now he said, you know, he said a lot of policies, he didn't think he needed all the policies. Well, a couple of them he didn't need, I'm gonna be honest with you. A couple of them, you know, one of them was accidental and other one was going to go up, it was just a term. Now he could have kept the term and let it ride out for for for a few more years. But he got what he needed. Now he has two Whole Life policies that will take care as final expenses. He's leaving his families of money. And he's happy, he's happy. And he is so he was so well organized. He was one of the most organized persons I've ever seen come into my office, he had a file with all his information in it the names and phone numbers, addresses of the beneficiaries. He had everything in order. So you know, I mean, he's just one among many that I've helped over the many years of service and business in here in Southern Nevada, my hometown. They come in, and they have questions about their life insurance policy. And a lot of you can use the money, I mean, $1,000, his eyes lit up. I mean, he's like, what I can get $1,000 I said, let's call the insurance company, which I did. And they went over, you know, I went over line by them with them with the policy surrender value is on the policy. And he was okay with it. He said and the thing is this, if you have a whole life policy, and you don't care about the cash value, that's good. But if your policy is rate is adjusting as you get older, they're taking the money out of the cash value to keep the policy going. So this happens quite often. Now sometimes people have to stay in that position because of their health reasons. But if you can can get out of it, you can cash out of that policy that's going to continue to go up on as anniversary, meaning every single year, the policy will increase the premium on its anniversary, however, the face mount will stay the same or it could it could even reduce down to half of what you'd have or all quarter of what you have. It can reduce down to it just really depends with the contract reads. Now I know a lot of these customer service reps will tell you all the policies good to age one 100 100 121 but they don't read the contracts. I read the contracts that you know, they don't want to lose business, I can understand that. But when you accumulate a nice cash value, and you can do other things with the money, why not take the money and especially if you can get you another policy, my name is Don Marquez, this is your insurance connection, we brought crash right here, k, u and v 91.5. Jazz and more from 8am to 830. Every Sunday morning, every Sunday morning, if you're getting ready to go to church, you can catch me if you get ready to go outside and relax, have a cup of coffee in the morning, or your cup of coffee and cigarettes or cigar whatever you do. You know, my smokers never called me I don't know why nobody smokes in Southern Nevada. And I worked in the casinos for 18 years and a lot of smokers in the casino because when I when I left casino, I smelled like cigarette smoke. I don't smoke. But I know all my smokers that are listening to me. Let's sit down and have a conversation that you're a smoker, you need life insurance. Everyone needs life insurance, that day is gonna come it's gonna come for all of us. The funeral costs are so expensive these days, the whoever thought the costs would be what it is today to bury a loved one unbelievable. Start to 15 to 20 even goes as high as $30,000 just depending on how elaborate you want your ceremony. But you know, a lot of people say I you know, I'm not gonna worry about that I'll let my family take care of that but to what you're doing, you're passing on that debt to your family. You really are. They have their own, you know, responsibilities. They have young children, older children or you know, they maybe have to buy their medicine and can't afford to, you know, spend money on your services, they have to pay their own bills. This is your all of our own responsibilities to take care of our own final expenses. And you know, and don't push the conversation aside. That's the worst thing you can do is this so you know what, I don't want to talk about it right now. I really watch the NBA Playoffs. Because it's going on right now. My team on the Lakers and sometimes watching the Lakers play. I don't know I need to double up on my blood pressure pills what you know but I take one blood pressure pill every morning. But watching the Lakers play sometimes I want to break a pill in half and taking a you know a pill and a half watch because they raise my blood pressure. They are amazing team to watch I love basketball football. I watch a little bit of baseball if I want to take me a nice nap. I watch baseball and I wake up in the game still I do that with basketball and football too because I go to see brown about sometimes right going into the you know going into the second quarter halftime by then I got me a good little nap in and I'm ready to catch the second half. But that's me. I know some of you probably do the same thing too as well. But you know I enjoy sports I really do. Great pastime to watch the watch these amazing athletes today. But even those amazing athletes have life insurance you know when it when they they're on the contract, they make sure they have every paperwork, every trust every annuity every life insurance policies signed, you know, the i's are dotted and the T's are crossed, they take care of their business, and we can do the same thing. It's not how much money you make. Let's let's get that let's get that out there is not how much money you make is what you do with the money that you make. I know people live on tight budgets everybody lives on a budget people come to me so I'm retired I live on a budget I don't know if I can afford it. You cannot you cannot afford not to have it. We will make it we will make adjustments we always do you know the prices gasoline is going up. And we still driving. But when when you arrive when we drive we make sure that you know we drive and we hit a certain spots, we make a circle, okay, I'm gonna go to the grocery store, I'm gonna go down and go to the post office and then I'll go back to the grocery store, wherever you are, whatever your routine is, go to the cleaners, whatever your routine is, you make adjustments. So you make those stops. You make those adjustments. So you conserve on gasoline, you conserve on gasoline. Now you can also conserve on bio food, maybe going to the casino and gambling a little bit. I noticed that Las Vegas nearby like to go out and just feed those machines. But those machines have a poor return. Just like a car when you go out and buy a new car right? Or buy a pre existing car. Those lose value. These are things that are losing value a car is the worst purchase you can make when it comes to value. It truly is it loses a ton of valid value. As soon as you pull off the parking lot you lose about 20 to 30% equity in that vehicle. So just think imagine you know you bought you a nice brand new car showing it off and everybody in this constantly depreciating. Soon as you pull it off the lot, you probably lost probably a good 15 to 20% in equity on that vehicle. But this is money that you pour into transportation and you need a course you need to go back and forth. You don't want to get some public transportation. I get that because I don't cut public transportation either. There's been a long As I wrote a bus, however, I do realize this, when it comes to my life insurance, that's not the first thing. I'm a counselor, because there are adjustments in my life. That's the last thing I will ever, I wouldn't ever cancel my life insurance policy, I will make adjustments, you know, I could do other things, you know, I can make adjustments of paying on my credit cards, I can make adjustments going out for dinner, instead of getting into dessert. Maybe instead of buying a bottle of wine, I just got a glass of wine. I mean, it's just, it's adjustments we can make. Or you know, you know, I'm not gonna go to the movies, because the movies get getting kind of expensive, kinda, they are very expensive. I want to see John Wick.
Unknown Speaker 10:40
The fourth John Wick has been so many and he shoots everybody, everybody, and he never gets shot. You know, he never gets shot. But watching John, go into the movies, paying for the ticket. It goes to John Wick, then popcorn and sodas, oh, my goodness, the sodas and the popcorn was more than what the movie cost. Let me say it again, popcorn is it there's nothing, popcorn is nothing soda is nothing but it was more money for the popcorn and soda than it was for the cost of movie tickets. Believe it or not, it's amazing. But you know, that's that was a $50 to go to see the movies, I'm gonna tell you the price, it was $50 to go see the movies. You know, and sometimes instead of going to the movies, you know, you can wait to come out on on your channels, your channels that you have, you know, and I say that all the time about television, because I remember when television used to be free now it's a utility. But you know, we can make adjustments and instead of going to the movies, that's $50, you could we could watch way to a wait a while watching at home for for probably half the price or even less, or even less, you know, it's not that important. In the end, the thing about it is if somebody wants to, to the movie, they want to tell you all about it. I you know, I hate when people go to the movies, and then they know you want to see the same movie, but they want to tell you about the movies, don't tell me anything, let me enjoy my premium dollar check. But my premium dollars to watch this movie. For you know, as I feel about it. Anyway, my name is Don Marquez, I like to have a little fun sometime. This is your insurance connection 702-236-2624, we can make adjustments. That's my whole point. We can make adjustments, you can get a final expense life insurance policy to take care of those final needs. I have I've delivered death benefits in my career. I have I've gotten checks from the life insurance company, you know, call the family up the beneficiary. So I'm bringing you a check over. When I first started in this business back in 96. That was a requirement what we had to do, once a family have filed a claim for a life insurance policy. We had the gold, the insurance agent myself, had to go deliver the life insurance benefit. Now the insurance companies told us the reason for that. Because you know, first of all, you get firsthand, you get to check firsthand, then you take it to the beneficiary. Now that is a tax free benefit. You tell them the options what they can do with that money, you know, of course people to file expenses, there are other expenses. But there's sometimes the beneficiary wants it purchase a policy. There's many times when I've delivered those checks to the to the beneficiary, the beneficiary did not have a policy. And when the beneficiary received the check and say, You know what I need to I need to get life insurance on myself not to say you need to be a beneficiary to make a decision to get life insurance. But as a decision that we all have to make some day, someone has to take care of your final expenses, and who's going to pay for it, and where's the money gonna come from, if they don't have access to your checking account, your banking account, your your savings account information, or your 401k, who is going to pay for that large responsibility at one time. Now, some of these funeral homes they do charge daily storage for when the remains are in the funeral home, they do charge a daily fee, which is you know, some it's over 100 sometimes up to $100 a day up to $100 a day. So if your loved one remains in there for three months, and you're trying to get together the money to take care of their final expenses. And it's up to $100 per day to root for the person's remains to stay safe and stored in the funeral home. That adds up. Now, if you get the money, you finally get the money you go in and all of a sudden that you've heard you have a storage bill. But you know, because it took you three months to get the money and it's almost $3,000 That's more money you have to come up with. But who wants to go through all that frustration of trying to find ways to bury a loved one who wants to go I gotta go borrow money from a payday loan. I have to go take a loan against my car. I had to drain money out of my savings account. I have to fly out of town that cost me airline tickets. I gotta go people funeral time off for me work, I have to move my loved ones furniture out of the house, I need to pay rent, I need to pay a house payment. These are final expenses. These are final expenses. There's no other way around it. And on top of all of what I just mentioned, you know, it may be children left behind. That has to be taken care of, with or without any money at all. Life insurance is a gift of love. That's what it is. It's a gift of love is telling your family members I care about you. I want to make sure if whether I'm here or not, you're okay. He has to give the love every time you cook dinner and everybody sit down for dinner now. It's not like I used to be when I was growing up everybody when dinner was prepared everybody sit down all together at the dinner table and we had dinner together as a family. Not today. They're over there on one corner you had another corner. Everybody just scattered all over the place having dinner watching television on a computer. On Instagram, you know I'll do on the on the for sale phone. You know, I hate when when people come over my house. I don't like this at all. We're sitting down having dinner, they're on the phone. No, no, this is done on time put the phone away. Because I'm still I still like to have dinner, sit down have a conversation. No television or, or maybe music in the background is nice, you know, or maybe even a television on if it's a game on. I don't mind sitting on my snack bar and watching little television and eating dinner. But when it comes to that Sunday dinner, oh, that weekend dinner, I want to sit down and have a little music in the background and the family sit down and have a conversation at the dinner table, have our dinner and have a conversation. Well, I don't know what happened to those days, those days are gone. But one of the most important conversations you can have with your family members while you're having dinner. You know, Memorial Day is coming up Mother's Day is coming up Father's Day, just another day, I just
Unknown Speaker 16:55
it is you know Mother's Day is very special can't find a seat in the restaurant anywhere. Father's Day, use plenty seats in the restaurant, trust me. Most of most dads don't want to be at home in the backyard barbecue out at the lake or doing something that we don't want to go to a restaurant. That's the last thing we want to do. But this gives when you have that dinner time, it gives you opportunity to talk about most important things. And one of the most important things you need to talk about is Mom, Dad, do you have life insurance? You know, talk to your grandparents, do you have life insurance? If you do have a policy who's admitted and shared? And they may say to you, I don't want to talk about this? Why are we talking about this right now? Or when are we going okay? If we can't talk about it right now? Let's have a discussion and put it on your calendar. Let's have a family meeting, or you and your parents or you and your grandparents can get together and find out exactly what what's going on. Who has a policy, where is the policy who is a beneficiary. Now many times in my career, people have come to me would have to have an insurance review. And they loved one that was the named insured individual that comes in to see me presents me with a life insurance policy. And tell me to review it, while I asked me to review it if you want to say and I look at the beneficiary and I say is this beneficiary still living? And and sometimes it's a yes or no depending on especially if it's a husband, a wife, now the wife is still living in the husband has deceased now my husband passed away about five years ago. And I said, Well, he's still on the policy. Has it been a primary beneficiary? Yes. And I just haven't got around to, you know, to I don't know what to do. So what do you need to do a very simple get a change of beneficiary form from your life insurance company, you contact the customer service department, and if you have to be on hold, stay on hold, because this is very important. Because if something have if you had a premature of passing, a premature passing and no one is a primary beneficiary, there's no contingent beneficiary, that policy could go into probate. And your family members do not have access to that money until it comes out of probate and who knows how long it's going to be in probate. You know, being an insurance professional. I love what I do. I really do. And I want to thank the listeners that came in along with Richard. They came in to see me Paul, he came in to see me. I mean, as many of you have come in to see me over the many years of being on the air here at KU envy 91.5 Jazz and more. I want to thank you so much. We offer home auto renters both motorcycle insurance. But the conversations I have with people is so unique. Every and every one is different. Everyone needs a different just because your neighbor is paying for a certain dollar amount for the auto insurance doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna pay the same amount of money. Your neighbor has a different card and you your neighbor may be a little older than you maybe a little younger than you but people got some bizarre homes neighbor only pays. What does that have to do with you? Nothing at all. Nothing at all. And your neighbors say well my neighbor said your neighbor is not an insurance expert, unless your neighbor is an insurance agent. And then your neighbor will tell you simply what because what I pay what I paid on not necessarily mean you got to pay the same price. Because you because your neighbors that doesn't mean your your costs should be the same. Your neighbor pie you have an extra neighbor, Poway Hey, how much you pay for power neighbor, and you know, they are always going to be a little lower than yours or even a car insurance. You know, I pay a lot less than you do. They don't put his power to tell you what they pay if they do tell you there's always gonna be lower than what you're paying. Because you're curious, right? You're curious people that move into Southern Nevada. I know you're curious about the car insurance. You know it is what it is and what you know you wonder why it costs more than where you came from. And more likely is going to be more money here Vegas than where you came from. I had the gentleman call me he was from some little small town in Kentucky. And he thought that insurance he thought the car insurance is gonna be a lot less in Nevada than it was Southern Nevada than it wasn't little rural town in Kentucky come on that I for real. You know yellow town closes up at six o'clock in the evening. Everybody going home you know a little small town and it was only about the whole population was 700 people I saw you Are you kidding me? And you think the rates gonna be a lot lower Vegas and it was a little small town in Kentucky only seven or 800 people? No, no Vegas. we all we all have our say Allah cities have a little something. And you know some California you don't have to deal with the earthquakes. Right? Admit and in the middle of the country. You know, they have to deal with tornadoes, especially Oakdale and you know, just southern parts of our country. You have to deal with that. In the northern part of our country we have to deal with snow. Right? You have to deal with the snow and the cold in the eastern part of of United States have to deal with cold or it or the humidity and the southern states with the humidity and the hurricanes and now they have the twisters every every person has country has a little something. Now, in Vegas we have our somethings we have the heat that's coming in, you know a couple of days ago is 90 degrees. So the heat is coming. It's coming here and I have some of you like to eat I don't particularly care like the heat anymore. I was born and raised here and then the older I get the less I like olives eat. I like this time I like this time to get to spring in the fall. But every city has something or something is car insurance, our car insurance rates I can shop for the car insurance rate that will fit in your budget 702 to three 620-624-7022 362624 My name is Dawn Marquez. She has a ability to write a power of attorney, medical and financial power of attorney last will and testament and also a promissory notes. Now the promissory notes it means if you're going to loan somebody some money, you should get it written down in writing just in case you have to take them to court. You know, just recently I had my vents dryer at my home cleaned out and I'm sharing this information with you because the vent dryer can start a fire in your home. Now it's very inexpensive to have that the audit lint sucked out of that vent. Is not that expensive. You know there's companies out there I don't have anyone to refer to but there's companies out there that'll do this service I had the service done. If you call me I'll give you the name and the service I think I still have it available 702-236-2624 when they pull the vent out, they pull the lint out of the vent. They show you the before and after picture and I had never had it done. mouse's over 20 years old. My house is over 20 years old and I never had it done and the buildup that was in my vent it was unbelievable. But that could have started a fire now when you when you when you finish washing clothes I recommend you do turn the water line off on your washing machine. That way you won't start if a water line break you know you will start to flood it because those floods happen a lot with the water lines on the washing machines and also your water heater. You know that could break in waters everywhere. Hopefully you have a pan underneath the water heater. I think that's cold now. My name is Dawn Marquez, this is your insurance connection 702-236-2624 702-236-2624. Again, my location is on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the US Bank building located on the eighth floor.
