And one of the major reasons is that I see, you know, I'm just speculating here again, because you may have a Hyundai or Kia. And here lately, I've recently found out a young man would own Tiktok. And he showed everyone how to get open how to how to open a vehicle. That's a Kia or Hyundai and how to not only open it, but drive it away as well. Now we're receiving a lot of claims for cars that have been stolen, or you know, young people just joy right and have a good time and vehicles and their damage to vandalize. I take all your personal items out of these cars in you just take all your personal items out of you. And when no matter what vehicle you have some news you could use. Yeah, I believe the police officers if they stopped you and they don't look to see what color sticker you have on your plate. They just want to make sure your car is is registered. I don't think they look for that what color the sticker is. I don't think they could care less Really, but they'd make sure your car is registered. Here. Again, take out those old ID cards, those old registrations, put the most current in an envelope and everything's right there for you. When you get pulled over, you have your ID card, your car registration and your driver's license ready to go. I had to receive a call. Last week, young lady, she called me and she said they added my granddaughter's aunt, so my auto insurance policy. Now the granddaughters are 17 and 16 years young. First. And they had both had those driver's permits, they both have driver's permits. Now when you have a driver's permit, and they added the insurance on the car insurance, they will add it on the car insurance. The rate one lady called me she said Why am I Rico up? I said, Well, let me look and see look at your policy. I don't look at policies every day. I mean, I do and I don't. But I don't keep up i If when you call me, that's when I look them up. Anyway, so she added the they added the children onto policy she didn't know they added the insurance company added the children on the policy, when your auto insurance policy renews every six months, or once a year, the insurance companies do what we call a household summary to auto insurance companies will look into the household to see who has a driver's license to see who are the licensed drivers in your home, they do it to protect you, the auto insurance companies do it to protect you. Now, as an insurance agent, we don't have time for that. We don't We really don't. So don't think as an insurance professional, that we have time with you to okay, we're going to add these people onto your policy, your auto policy, we don't we don't do that. But we do have a team within the insurance company, that auto insurance company that look at the household summary, to see who are the newly licensed drivers in the household. And if they are licensed drivers in your home, they will be added on your own your car insurance. Because what they what they did, they went down to the DMV, they got permits and they used that particular address. Now they happen to live at that address, their insurance company is going to make sure you are protected. Jessica just in case they take the car out, they get in the car accident, and you are protected. Now without them on the policy, you could be liable for damages. Now there is permission to use your car, let's say you have relatives flying coming in from out of town, they're staying with you for a week, or you know even a month, they don't have to be added on to your policy. They're just visiting. So they do have permission to use your car as long as they have car insurance, make sure they have car insurance. But you can use they can use your car. And you know as long as you give them permission to use a car they are protected. But let's get back to why they were added. And this could happen to YouTube as well if you especially if you have young drivers, for the for the most part I tell my listeners and my customers. When they contacted me and asked me questions. I'm thinking about getting my child permit driving permit. What should I do? And well, first thing I want to know how does your child when they're 16 I wait till they're 20. Well, you we have so many options today we have you know we have people that drive Uber or Lyft I mean so many different options today. Now like it was back in the day and we did have cabs back in the day but people rarely took cabs, but now we have these other forms of transportation I, my recommendation is wait till they're 20 years old. Now when you add them on, as a licensed driver in the household with permit or driver's licenses, the on the renewal of the auto insurance, the policy will that will be reviewed to see if there's any new licensed drivers in the household with that using that address, they use that address. And this is why they were added on to the policy. It made her re go up, she had a 16 year old and a 17 year old Ouch. on auto insurance policy that hurt, that hurt. Now there are options to get them off the policy. You know, there are options. I've reviewed our options with her. I just can't take them. She called me up. She was a little upset. She actually she was very upset when she saw the rate further for the young drivers, but they are not our children, their grandchildren. But the grandchildren live with a grandmother. Okay. They live with a grandmother. So they were added on the auto insurance policy and the rate went up pretty high. It did and went up pretty high. And that happens with when you would 16 and 17 year old children, I had it on on the auto insurance policy, I did give her some recommendations to take them off. Now I cannot take them off, the computer is going to ding me and says we cannot take these young drivers off unless they can show proof number one have their own insurance policy. They own auto insurance policy, you know or that you know, or you can turn in the driver's licenses and get ID cards. That was my recommendation, let them turn in the driver's license, get ID cards. Now, there are other options. You know, they can get their own car insurance or get added on the parents policies. But if they are adding on another policy, a different policy, then the person that lives in a household, let's say for example, their parents live in a household along with them. They can put the children on their parents policy. As long as they show proof I can take more off my clients policy. More information. I did when I was a young man I had a 280s in my young 20s I had a two AZ that was a I love that car. I was all over the place back and forth to California all the time. I love that car just I loved it so much burn out the engine. And I was only paying $50 a month for car insurance. But those days are long gone. They long gone and the computer will pick up any household drivers. That's using your address. If you have a licensed driver that's using your address, this can happen to you. So be aware of it. You may want to use a peel box. You didn't hear from me but you may want to use a peel box avoid that. But the auto insurance companies are only protecting your liability. If you have filed a claim for homeowners insurance, the claim stay on your property for five years. If you have a water loss, don't shop it just stay where you are, you just really must stay where you are unless they're going to non renew you. water losses in the valley. Those are those are the most common losses we have when it comes to homeowners insurance. If you have a water loss, or you know of a theft, damage, or theft, or even hail damage, we had hell a couple of weeks ago, you need to file a claim right away. I mean, this is why you buy insurance. If you need to file a claim, you have to file a claim or wind damage, maybe something just singles flew off your home. But the let to let you know the claims stay on your property for five years. For five years. Now your mortgage company will pay the rate increase. Because they want to make sure the mortgage company want to make sure if you do have an escrow account, they want to make sure that the home is insured, even if your insurance company is going to not renew you. Because you filed three claims in less than three years, it's gonna be really tough for you to buy insurance. And when you do find some, it's going to be very expensive, just to let you know that right now. So sometimes you don't need to file a claim because you may have a deductible that's $1,000. And you may just absorb the loss. Or if your claim is like if you have $1,000 deductible and you have a $1,500 claim, the insurance company is going to only gonna pay out $500 It may not be worth you following the claim. Do I was born to be an insurance agent. That's a lot of moving parts to insurance. It really is. You know, people always shopping for price. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Now, if you can't get your insurance agent you call your insurance agents from time to time you say I can never get this person. But if you do get that one of the staff members, it's okay. I really don't because when I started the insurance business, it was more like old school we had to wear suits to the office every day. We had to kind of be their nine to five, five days a week and some Saturdays we would work. I mean I you know I'm old school when it comes to insurance. I'm going to school insurance. I still wear the suits most of the time especially In the fall in the winter, I definitely wear suits them. But, you know, we were trained a certain way customer service is everything is extremely important. The call the customer back, I was taught that going into the business, you know, because if I make a phone call to any type of service that I want to patronize, I want a phone call back if they if I leave a message, I want someone to call me back. And then when she when she did purchase the policies, you got to understand the insurance companies rent you know, they give me a commission. That's how I make my my commission, that when you buy a policy, they pay me even if you don't buy a policy for me, I don't say you owe me this much money for my time. No Obligation review, she quickly found out that her and her husband had policies that they purchased a couple of years ago that it was a great face amount. It was a step by step phased them out to get to the $10,000 they thought they were buying initially. Don't buy a life insurance policy by way of going online.
